Pakistan is preparing for a longer Eid holiday this year. According to weather forecasts, Eid al-Fitr is expected to arrive on Wednesday, April 10.

Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry had earlier announced a five-year lunar calendar in 2019 to address the long-standing issue of moon sighting.

This year, according to the estimated calendar, the month of Ramadan is planned to last 29 days and Eid al-Fitr will be celebrated on April 10.

In the process, in cooperation with Chaudhry’s initiative, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Meteorology confirmed the expected date and confirmed that the Chauwar moon will be seen on the evening of 29 Ramadan.

General Manager Sahibzad Khan added hope to the Eid celebrations by reiterating the relationship of scientific studies with the lunar month.

Traditionally, the holiday starts the day before the actual festival to allow time to prepare and celebrate. Since Eid al-Fitr falls on Wednesday, the government declared four consecutive public holidays from Tuesday to Friday.

However, it is expected that people will be given a holiday starting next weekend.
